Kamakshi Ganesh

Yaamini Gitanjali

Founded in 2014, CARTWHEEL is a multidisciplinary design practice working across architecture, interiors, furniture, and art. Established by principal architects Kamakshi Ganesh and Yaamini Gitanjali, the studio was built on a shared belief that thoughtful design has the ability to enrich everyday life.

The two first met while studying architecture before their professional journeys took them in different directions. Kamakshi began her career at SRDA in Mumbai, while Yaamini pursued a Master’s in Interior and Living Design at Domus Academy in Milan. These experiences shaped distinct perspectives on design, practice, and process, which came together in 2014 to establish CARTWHEEL.

From the outset, the practice has been guided by a simple ethos: to infuse design into everyday living. Every structure, space, product, and object is approached as an opportunity to create environments that are purposeful, intuitive, and enduring—making design an integral part of daily life.

Over the past 12 years, CARTWHEEL has grown from a shared vision into an evolving design practice with a team of 15 and studios in Chennai and Bangalore, providing design consultancy services across India. The studio’s work spans residential, commercial, hospitality, institutional, and public projects, reflecting a multidisciplinary approach that adapts to a wide range of scales and contexts.

The practice has continually expanded its portfolio through collaborations with the Chennai government, international projects in Dubai, and commissions across diverse typologies. This growth has been driven by a commitment to experimentation, curiosity, and a process-led approach that remains at the core of the studio’s work.
