Project - Container House
Area - 600 sq ft
Date of completion - 2022
Location - Rajamundhry, Andhra Pradesh, India
Set on a quiet farmhouse site overlooking a lake near Rajamundhry in Andhra Pradesh, this container home is our take on minimal, meaningful living. We placed two repurposed shipping containers in an L-shaped layout — one stacked over the other — to make the most of the views and the natural contours of the land.
The orientation was carefully considered. The upper container opens out to panoramic views of the water and surrounding farmland, while the lower one anchors the structure and creates intimate, shaded outdoor spaces. Together, they form a built composition that feels both sculptural and grounded.
We chose to retain the raw honesty of the containers while softening the palette with natural textures like wood and stone. Large openings, a clean interior layout, and an emphasis on indoor-outdoor flow keep the focus where it belongs — on the landscape. For us, this project was about doing more with less. It’s a quiet response to a beautiful site — one that allows nature to lead the conversation.
